Freezing overnight ordeal for man thrown from motorcycle

A WHEELCHAIR-bound man has survived a freezing night in the snow at the bottom of an embankment off Spring Creek Rd.

Peter Bowring, 62, was declared missing on Thursday afternoon after he failed to return home from a trip to Queen Mary Falls, Killarney.

He was last seen with his distinctive three-wheeled motorbike, made to carry his wheelchair, at the Queen Mary Falls carpark.

Police located the man about 2pm yesterday in a surprisingly stable condition.

Mr Bowring was rescued from the embankment by Queensland Fire and Rescue officers.

The Queensland Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 2.20pm and transported Mr Bowring to Warwick hospital.

He was suffering mild hypothermia and had received a fractured right leg.

It is believed Mr Bowring had been travelling along Spring Creek Rd towards his Albany Creek home.

He then lost control and was thrown from his motorcycle.

Police said he was lucky to survive the snowfall ordeal.

Meanwhile, CCTV confirms that snow fell in Toowoomba
