Free sports every Friday

Children and families are being encouraged to take advantage of free sport afternoons being held every Friday at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.

The Sport in the Neighbourhood program includes touch footy, futsal, basketball and indoor cricket. Lismore City Council's youth and community development officer Lizette Twisleton said as well as improving health it's simply a chance to have fun.

"We all know that when kids and families are out having fun and using energy in a positive way, everyone is likely to be a lot happier," she said. "It is programs like this that develop community pride, decrease social isolation and provide support to children and young people."

Sport in the Neighbourhood runs every Friday from 4-6pm throughout the school year. For information, phone 1300 878 387.
