Free kids events at gallery

To celebrate the launch of Lismore Regional Gallery’s latest exhibition, Art out of water: the fish of art, the gallery will be hosting some free events this Saturday morning, February 20, from 11am.

As part of the event Digby Moran will make a fish trap and tell fishing stories from his childhood. Digby’s life has been intrinsically linked with the sea from a very young age. There is much to learn from Digby as he casts his mind back to his early days, when fishing was an essential part of daily life.

“I class myself as a saltwater man. I’ve been in the saltwater all my life," Digby said. "I particularly remember prawning as a kid. I’d come home from school, grab a hessian bag, slice it open and drag it along the water and catch prawns. They’re gone now, but they were the best days of my life.”

Children can make a fish with free art materials to take home plus they can enter a raffle with a kids fishing rod and equipment as the prizes, generously donated by Suffolk’s Outdoor Sports.

Everyone is welcome. For info, phone the gallery on 6622 2209.
