Floods isolate 600 as rivers rise
Torrential rain overnight on Monday caused by a deep low pressure trough over northern New South Wales has resulted in flooding on the Orara, Bellinger and Nambucca Rivers.
Rain has increased on Tuesday, resulting in renewed river rises on the Orara and Bellinger Rivers.
On the Kalang River near Bellingen, Moodys Bridge has closed resulting in the isolation of some 500 people.
A spokesperson for the SES said these particular people are well prepared and the SES will closely monitor their welfare and provide assistance if required.
On the Nambucca River, the closure of Lanes Bridge has isolated a further 80 people, though the SES spokesperson said isolation is expected to be relatively short lived.
Access is likely to be restored on Tuesday afternoon or night, or Wednesday morning depending upon further rainfall.
