FROM veteran rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers to indie folk singer Angus Stone and some of the brightest emerging talent, the 2013 festival calendar is jam-packed with quality acts.
This tour through the festi-sphere aims to bring music lovers up to speed with each festival.
Big Day Out
ONE of the most recognised festivals in Australia returns with a bang next year despite well-publicised tour hiccups in 2012.
Producer Ken West believes BDO will return with new vigour.
"We are all extremely proud of BDO 2013 on a musical and design level," he said.
"It feels like we are back on track."
Some changes have been made to the event proceedings, including a revamped food range and the introduction of cash bars rather than a ticket system.
Mr West said changes were essential for Big Day Out to keep on top of the thriving festival scene.
"(We need to) keep it challenging - deliver great line-ups, keep growing and changing, take risks, and make sure the audience comes away from BDO knowing that we care," he said.

music in Australia.
"It's vitally important," she said.
"Tamworth Country Music Festival underpins the development of country
music in Australia."
Mrs Nugent said visitors could be entertained with anything from bush poetry to line dancing, and music as
modern as alt-country or as traditional as country-western.

THE weather gods conspired against this year's Golden Days Festival, the third in the event's history.
Festival co-director Mark Pico said predicted storms on the weekend of the festival had a big effect on the turnout, but he was happy with the way the festival ran.

Gympie Music Muster
SPECIAL guest Kenny Rogers headlined this year's Gympie Music Muster line-up, which also featured some of the best country musicians in Australia.
But for doubting Thomases who think the 2012 line-up can't be matched, festival program manager Jeff Chandler assures that it can.
"We're in the thick of planning again," he said.
"Kenny Rogers is a very high bar but we're negotiating with a few big-name headliners.
"We've got one really special one from America."
He also promises improvements to the event schedule, such as venue changes and some spoken-word

SOME jazz lovers were concerned when USM Events withdrew support from the 2012 Noosa Jazz Festival.
But event organisers were determined to put together a successful event - and they did just that.
Event manager Linda Jedynak said she expected the festival to go from strength to strength.
"Our demographic had a fabulous time (this year).
"The talent was second to none," she said.

Splendour in The Grass
THE hugely popular Splendour in the Grass will be relocated again next year.
After a two-year stint at Woodford, the internationally-recognised festival moved back to its home turf at the Belongil Fields in Byron Bay this year.
But plans for residential development on the site have meant that Splendour has been forced out.
Its new home will be North Byron Parklands.
General manager Mat Morris said the site was halfway to completion in preparation for next year's festival.
"We're excited to be hosting Splendour in the Grass in 2013," he said.
In recent years, the line-up has boasted the likes of The Strokes, Kanye West and Jack White, so here's hoping for the same calibre of artists next year.
