Farmer Charlies bites the dust

Three Farmer Charlies stores in Lismore, Ballina and Evans Heads have gone into receivership.

Simon Cathro and David Lombe from Deloitte were appointed as receivers and managers on October 2.

They have issued a statement saying that they intend to continue to operate the businesses “in order to preserve the long term viability and value of these stores. It is the intention of the receivers to offer the businesses for sale as a going concern.”

“Employees of these stores have been notified of the appointment and will continue to be employed on a 'business as usual' basis,” Mr Cathro said.

Mr Cathro said that the receivers are undertaking a full review of the financial position of the business.

He said advertising for the sale of the businesses would commence next week.
