A COUPLE and their two children remain in hospital after the tent they were sleeping in was dragged down a dirt road by an out-of-control driver at a NSW camp site on the weekend.
The family was holidaying at a Kiama caravan park on the NSW south coast when a P-plater allegedly bowled over a metal fence, clipped their car, ran over their tent and dragged them for several metres late Saturday night.
Three were trapped under the car and had to be freed by shocked campers.
On Monday the 45-year-old father underwent surgery to repair a fractured pelvis at the Wollongong Hospital where his four-year-old son was being treated for burns and bruising.
His 43-year-old wife was airlifted to St George Hospital in Sydney with a collapsed lung and spinal injuries while their seven-year-old daughter was also taken to Sydney with chest injuries.
A 19-year-old male driver, who was allegedly staying at the park before the crash, was being interviewed by police on Monday.
Police said the caravan park was full of holidaymakers on the weekend and urged any witnesses to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
