Soccer: Extra players and teams make carnival for Allan
LACHLAN Allan's only problem with the junior football season in 2015 was playing Gladstone teams over and over again.
While he loves playing anyone, the 10-year-old yearned for a bit of variety.
His wishes came to reality at the weekend; the Terry West Carnival bringing teams from outside of Gladstone to the Palm Drive fields.
Despite losing the first game of his day with the BITS Bluejays, Lachlan loved the chance to play against new opposition.
"We have never played them before and I love challenges," he said.
The second match for Lachlan was against fellow club mates BITS Barras.
That match made him just as happy as the first.
He rarely gets to play his club mates, and took advantage of the chance.
"I scored both goals, a couple are our good friends so it was fun to play against them," he said.
"That was only the second time all year."
The match ended 2-1 to the Bluejays, a second half goal sealing the advantage.
Lachlan believes that having the full complement of players helped.
It is the first competition his team has played in to use all 11 players.
"I found it a bit easier because you have more players on the field and the team can get the ball easier," he said.
