Experimenal music in Bangalow

The Northern Rivers will host Sound Crucible 2010.

Now in its fourth year, two performances by experimental, electronic sound artists are scheduled. As well, the Lismore Regional Gallery will exhibit sonic and visual installations by the headlining artists.

The first concert will be held at the Bangalow Church Hall next Wednesday, March 10. Robert Curgenven, Ross Manning, Festive Jackyls and Muttboy vs Nuth’n make up the line-up for the evening. Robert Curgenven will be performing pieces from his recent release Oltre.

The second concert was to be held at the Tatts Hotel in Lismore on Friday, April 30, but that venue is shut and may not be re-opened by then. We’ll keep you informed. The second show will include The Scrapes, Mike Cooper & Grayson Cooke, Sky Needle, Heil Spirits and Muttboy vs Nuth’n.

Ross Manning will make a second appearance with Sky Needle alongside Brisbane luminaries Joel Stern and Alex Cuffe. Grayson Cooke makes his first appearance at Sound Crucible with regular Mike Cooper. Cooke begins his new appointment as lecturer with Southern Cross University this year.

Performances begin at 8pm and entry is $15.

The Lismore Regional Gallery will be exhibiting Sound Crucible installations from the April 23 to May 29.
