RALLY Australia Officials are confident the September 14 Federal Election will not impact this year's World Rally Championship stage on the Coffs Coast.
Yesterday's announcement from Prime Minister Julia Gillard has seen the election clash with a number of major Australian sporting events none more than the Rally of Australia to be held on the Coffs Coast from September 12-15.
Chairman of Rally Australia, Ben Rainsford believed the clash would not impact the rally but would be going to all extents to prevent any issues arising.
Rally Australia would not anticipate any significant impact from a federal election being held on the second-last day of our event on Saturday 14 September," Rainsford said
"We'll be taking all possible steps to ensure out-of-town visitors and residents along the route are able to vote.
"The Coffs region will be packed with spectators, competitors, officials, media and other visitors, not to say the thousands of locals who traditionally attend front-yard parties along the route.
"We'll work with the Electoral Commission to make sure everyone is informed about the options for registering a vote and no-one is inconvenienced.
"There should be many booths open throughout the rally area. Rally cars parked outside polling booths and drivers walking inside in their race suits might make an interesting sight and add some colour to the day."
