AUSTRALIA'S Annette Edmondson has claimed the bronze medal in the women's omnium at the velodrome.

Edmondson featured amongst the top five riders in all six events to finish behind Great Britain's Laura Trott and United States' Sarah Hammer.

Edmondson said she tried her hardest to get to the top of the podium, but was 'over the moon' to win the bronze medal.

"To be honest I came in with my hopes high, I really wanted to get a gold," she said.

"Today was my lucky day and I pulled it off in the scratch race."
