Duo to face court over assaulting police

A MAN and woman from the New South Wales mid-north coast will face court next month after being charged with assaulting two police officers on the weekend.

After police were called to Woodberry on reports of fighting in the street, a 40-year-old man was asked to move on.

The man became abusive, resisting arrest before police officers used capsicum spray to try to subdue him.

A second officer tried to intervene when the 42-year-old woman kicked him in the back, before both were brought under control and arrested.

The pair were arrested on various charges including assaulting police, and were granted conditional bail to appear in Maitland Local Court in April.
