Drunk, aggressive driver nabbed by cops on motorway

POLICE were forced to use a rare Signal One call for help after a man was overly aggressive when being pulled over this morning.

Just before 7am plain clothed police spotted a man driving erratically on the Pacific Hwy just south of Chinderah.

"He was driving erratically and at a high speed," Tweed-Byron crime manager Acting Inspector Saul Wiseman said.

"He was pulled over and became aggressive."

Acting Insp Wiseman said extra cars and police were called to the scene to render assistance and to arrest the 28-year-old Queensland man.

"He was transported to Tweed Heads police station," he said.

"He was intoxicated and violent."

The man is expected to be charged with middle range PCA and two charges of resisting arrest.
