THE Lismore Regional Gallery currently has two fascinating exhibitions exploring gender-based themes.
Showing in the Vicki Fayle Gallery and Screen Gallery is The New Charge: Australian Women Modernists, which showcases leading Australian women artists practicing from 1925-1945, a period of increased social freedom for women.
In the upstairs gallery is Darren Bryant's Boy's Own (The Hoon Series), which questions ideas about social, cultural and historically inherited gender stereotypes formed through childhood play and the toys we acquire.
Both exhibitions run till April 7.
