Domino effect on highway

A THREE-vehicle crash at Shark Creek has left a woman in a critical condition after her Ford sedan collided with a small truck.

Headed south on the Pacific Hwy, the sedan allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed head on with the small truck travelling north, which then went on to collide with a B-double.

The female driver, believed to be in her mid-20s, was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition after being trapped in her vehicle.

Her passenger, a male of about the same age, was taken to Grafton Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the small truck was taken to Maclean Hospital.

The driver of the B-double left the scene with no injuries.

Motorists were held up on the Pacific Hwy for a few hours while the scene was cleared.

Investigations are continuing.
