Diamonds set to dominate play against SA in Quad Series

AUSTRALIA and New Zealand will start unbackable favourites to continue their domination of the inaugural Quad Series netball competition in Newcastle.

The powerhouses showed they were a class above England and South Africa in round one in Adelaide on Sunday, Australia downing England 64-40 after a slow start and the Silver Ferns thrashing South Africa 63-27.

Tonight the Diamonds will meet South Africa and New Zealand will take on England.

Defender Bianca Chatfield was the star for Australia in game one and is likely to be a serious stumbling block for the South Africans.

England will look to tall defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers to limit the influence of veteran New Zealand goal shooter Irene van Dyke in that match, after the English player did an impressive job of containing Australian shooter Caitlin Bassett in the first half of Sunday's match.

But with three of their best players - Geva Mentor, Sonia Mkoloma and Jade Clarke - back home because of a dispute with England Netball, the Silver Ferns should have no trouble racking up another victory.
