Dellacqua goes through after scare off court

AUSTRALIA'S Casey Dellacqua scored a first-round win in the Hobart International yesterday, but not before almost throwing away the second set and potentially the match.

Dellacqua, ranked 125 and playing on a wildcard, eased past Belgium's Alison van Uytvanck 6-4 6-4 but admitted she was distracted by an explosion in the tournament kitchen when serving for the match at 5-2.

"The explosion shook me a little bit to be honest. I kept thinking 'I hope everyone is okay'," she said.

Dellacqua will play Alison Riske in the second round after the American beat Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Top seed Sam Stosur had a scare in her first round match against world No.147 Madison Brengle.

The American qualifier won a rain-interrupted first set in a tie-breaker, before Stosur bounced back to take the match 6-7 6-1 7-6.

The Aussie will meet France's Kristina Mladenovic in the second round.
