Debate on weeding the garden

WEEDING the garden can be back-breaking. Do we really have to do it? The pros and cons of weeding will be aired at a great debate, being held by the Whian Whian Landcare group at Whian Whian Hall next Saturday, September 22.

The six sagacious speakers for and against the question "To weed or not to weed" will be Robyn Francis of Permaculture College Australia, Mark Dunphy of Firewheel Nursery, Paul Recher of Dorroughby, bush regenerator Ralph Woodford, Byron Shire biodiversity officer Stuart McDonald, and organic farmer Cath Ford.

There'll be a G-rated movie for the kids. BBQ 6pm, debate 7pm, Q&A 8pm, $10 at the door, kids free.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
