Imagine a band that takes you deep into the heart of both ancient and modern gypsy Istanbul. It sounds like the kind of ride we Northern Rivers dwellers might enjoy. Baro Banda, made up of three Romany, two Turkish, one Turkish Australian and one Australian, is a group of musicians who are a truly global band bridging the gap between east and west. They bring to the table heavy Turkish Romany grooves to drum 'n' bass, dub, funk, jazz and hip hop.
Take your dancing shoes and an open mind, because it's like nothing you've ever seen before. Baro Banda are doing a gig on their gypsy festival circuit at the Bangalow A&I Hall next Thursday, March 1. Doors open at 7.15pm and tickets are $25 pre-show from www.oztix.com.au or $28 at the door.
