Dan, the man of the moment
After wooing audiences at Blues Fest recently, Dan Sultan and his seven-piece band kick off their national tour in Byron Bay on Friday, May 14, at the Hotel Great Northern.
Since releasing his second album Get Out While You Can, Sultan has been one of the fastest rising stars in Australian music (and he hasn’t even been on a reality TV show!).
The album was featured as Triple J’s album of the week, shot to number 1 on the independent album charts and is still one of the highest-selling independent albums in the country. He has been called “the Black Elvis” because his music takes liberal doses of 1950’s American rock and soul and brings it to a modern Australian context.
The live shows have been getting rave reviews all over the place so get out and see what all the fuss is about. Doors open at 9pm and Dan will be supported by husky voiced singer/
songwriter Gin Wigmore, whose debut album Holy Smoke was recorded with Ryan Adams backing band The Cardinals. Tickets are $20.50.
