LISMORE'S CWA craft group recently took out the Margaret Dudgeon trophy for handicrafts, out-stitching opposition from across the Northern District.
A selection of eight hand-knitted and crocheted items were submitted for the competition, with Lismore's Kaye Martin taking out the "champion piece" award for a crotched doily.
The best pieces will now go on to be judged as part of the CWA state conference in Moree in May.
Members of the Knitting Nannas have recently joined the CWA craft group (which meets every Tuesday morning at the CWA Rooms in Spinks Park) and with seven new nannas last week "they nearly filled the room".
Apart from making decorative craft, the CWA has an extensive fundraising program to help those in need and they will be holding a walk-a-thon on Monday, April 29, to help women and children in Third World countries.
Anyone is welcome to join in and sponsorship and donations would be gratefully accepted.
