THEY are young, talented and just love their country music.
These six up-and-coming country singers will place a spotlight on the Mackay region when they represent the Pioneer Valley Country Music Club at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The friends swapped and shared their instruments with each other when they started an impromptu jamming session in the Daily Mercury's office last week.
They have been rehearsing for months in preparation for the 10-day festival, which kicks off on January 18 at Australia's country music capital.
Tamworth is a yearly pilgrimage for some of them, but for others it will be their first time making the long drive south to the event.
Fourteen-year-old Karrie Hayward admits she is a bit of a Tamworth veteran.
"It will be my fourth time going down," Karrie said.
"It's just full of people who are enthused about country music. There are other genres that are involved.
"I love it because it brings lots of people together."
Karrie looks at home and completely comfortable when she stands behind her mandolin or guitar.
Most of the other members of the music club play an instrument or are learning how to play an instrument and all can sing.
Regardless of how many times they have been to the festival, all six of the musicians were buzzing with excitement about the event.
Their biggest country music idols will be among the thousands of people who will be at the festival.
Some Pioneer Valley Country Music Club members will be playing in gigs. Most will be performing in the Carter and Carter gospel show, while three of them, Tia Gostelow, Damien Agius and Kasey Kilsby, will be competing in a national busking competition.
Damien Agius proudly boasted that three out of the top 10 buskers in the Australian Country Music Busking Championships were from the Pioneer Valley Country Music Club.
