Country brew

Long tall storyteller Jimmy Willing lives to perform. A man like this could never hold down a normal nine-to-five job. (Well, he probably could but why would he? Jimmy is an artist.)

He’s a cowboy-hat-wearing maverick living in a world ever more fenced, regulated and sanitised. (Not a world he would have made…)

Jimmy arrived on the North Coast some 20 years ago with a gypsy wagon full of puppets and a herd of horses. He liked the place and never left. These days Jimmy paints hard at his easel all week to pay the bills. On weekends he leads a wild bunch of boys called The Real Gone Hick-Ups who play a dangerous form of pepped-up country music called skunt (that’s half ska, half country) and this Friday, March 26, Jimmy Willing and the Real Gone Hick-Ups will play the Byron Bay Premium Brewery (aka Buddha Bar) in Byron from 7pm.
