Council approves 24-7 Warrego Hwy truck stop

A NEW 24-hour BP service station that will accommodate heavy vehicles has been approved for the Warrego Hwy just west of Toowoomba.

Toowoomba Regional Council's development assessment panel yesterday approved the Witmack Developments project which will be located near the intersection of the Warrego Hwy and O'Mara Rd in Charlton.

It is positioned to service vehicles travelling on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.

The service station will operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Located on a 3.3ha site, it will include a drive-through KFC, truck parking bays and amenities for truck drivers.

A Witmack Developments representative said the service station would play a key role in the future development of the Toowoomba Enterprise Hub.

It is an area designated to heavy industry, warehouses and transport facilities such as the Wellcamp Airport and InterLinkSQ's intermodal freight hub.

"The proposed development will form part of an integrated service centre that will provide direct support to the future surrounding transport and warehousing land uses through the provision of food and beverages, fuel and other facilities," the representative said.
