Corndale boys score gold

The Corndale boys relay team recently went to Sydney for the State Athletics Carnival and came home with gold medals.

Darcy Evans (11), Jed Collins (12), Shaun Sewell (12) and Jack Cooper (8) placed first in the state on the Homebush Olympic Stadium track after competing at district, zone and regional levels.

Jed’s mum Tanya Collins said it was a remarkable achievement, particularly given that Corndale is a small, rural, one-teacher school.

“They trained hard with their coaches Mark Sewell, Greg Clarke and Barry Cooper,” Tanya said. “It was a very exciting day as the parents watched the boys get through their heats and semis to eventually take home gold in the final!”
