Community garden is a reality

Last Friday the first sod was finally turned on the Lismore Community Garden on the corner of Brewster St and Magellan St (near the netball courts).

Site manager Carla Tipping said it was great for the dream and vision to actually be about to start.

“It will be fantastic for people to be able to come and do some work in the garden and then go home with some delicious fruit and vegetables,” Carla said. “Gardening is physical and so relaxing - everyone can do something.”

Community Garden president Simon Morrison said he was looking forward to getting his hands dirty and said if any local businesses wanted to sponsor the garden they were more than welcome.

“This will help create a sense of community, it's centrally located and we're hoping people will just love walking through,” he said.

Everyone is invited to the Community Garden open day on Saturday, October 31, and there will be a barbecue.
