Community bank for Goonellabah

A group of local people under the banner Goonellabah Community Committee are trying to drum up support for the Goonellabah Community Bank project, in association with the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

The committee says it will keep local money and local jobs in Goonellabah and provide a continuous income stream for community projects and initiatives.

A campaign launch and public meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 1, where the benefits of such a project will be outlined and people can meet the project committee. It will be held from 6-7pm at the Goonellabah Workers Sports Club.

For further information phone Peter Witten on 0427 113 810 or Matt George on 0412 555 229.

Clicking for charity a good choice

Thanks to local voting in an internet competition, Heartfelt House has won a Coles.com.au 'Click for Community' grant.

People were urged to vote in the online People's Choice Award and a big effort from locals has resulted in the charity receiving the $1500 prize.

The money will assist Heartfelt House in its ongoing work to help adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
