ZARIAH Lamont never imagined she'd get in to modelling let alone take out a national catwalk competition.

The 16-year-old Bli Bli girl said she had always been interested in trying out to be a model but didn't think she was "beautiful" enough.

That was until she entered in the Country Girl Management competition and was crowned miss congeniality at the national finals.

"I had so much fun taking part in photo-shoots, walking on the catwalk and taking part in confidence workshops," she said.

"I was the youngest competitor out of the 107 girls from New Zealand and Australia and I made so many lifelong friends."

One of the big life lessons she will be taking away from the competition is to feel beautiful in your own skin and it's a message she wants to promote to other young girls.

"During April, this year I was just an everyday girl who had such a passion for modelling but never felt like I was "beautiful" enough and I know that's how so many other local girls feel," she said.

"I just want to get the word out there that everyone is beautiful and should be confident with who they are.

Zariah said she hoped to continue modelling in the future and taking part in the competition helped her both professional and at a personal level.

"My journey with Country Girl Management has been so life changing and remarkable," she said.

""I'd encourage anyone who was interested in modelling to give it a go.

"It was so nerve-wracking at first but I learnt so much along the way."

Zariah was currently working on building he portfolio and working with Country Girl Management to pursue further her dream of modelling.
