On the drive to rock stardom

It may not seem very rock ‘n’ roll, but washing cars is what it takes to get your band noticed these days.

Casino High School band Reality On Hold held a car wash last weekend to raise money to get themselves to Sydney for the Youth Rock battle of the bands competition. Youth Rock is part of Youth Week and bands from all over Australia enter by sending in a CD or DVD and from that 40 bands are selected to perform. There is $10,000 worth of prizes on offer including recording studio time, CD manufacturing, equipment for the band, equipment for the school, cash prizes, photo shoots, business affairs advice and support gigs.

Reality On Hold have been together for about two years and bass player Alfred Stone described their style as “indie punk rock”.

The band made about $200 from washing cars which will help get them on their way to Sydney and hopefully to rock ‘n roll stardom.
