City fans urged to bring a cake for Toure's birthday

THERE might not be many goals scored when Manchester City faces Leicester on Saturday.

But there could be plenty of cakes to celebrate Yaya Toure's 34th birthday.

Ivory Coast international's agent has asked City's fans to show their love for the midfielder - by bringing birthday cakes to the Etihad for the Blues' must-win game.

With the midfielder leaving the club at the end of the season, agent Dimitri Seluk wants supporters to prove how much they will miss him.

Seluk has often shown his anger at City bosses during Toure's seven-year stint at the Blues.

He criticised the club for not properly celebrating Toure's birthday in 2014 after the star had played a key role in the club's second Premier League title triumph in three seasons.

That saga became known as 'Cakegate'.

"The City fans should all bring cakes to the game to show Yaya how much they love him," Seluk said.

"It looks like this will be Yaya's final season with City and I think he deserves a special goodbye from the people of Manchester.

"What happened three years ago was a joke that was misunderstood.

"I think everybody will be able to laugh about it if supporters gave him a cake for this birthday.

"Yaya loves City and he loves the fans.

"When he came, City could only dream about winning the Premier League and playing in the Champions League -and he has made those dreams come true."

Saturday won't be the final home game at the Etihad for Toure as City also entertains West Brom next Tuesday before a season-ending trip to Watford.
