Cigars to burn bright for NYE

Well, it all depends on how you want to bring in the new year.

You could stay at home, have a nice curried tofu dish with the family, maybe a glass of red wine… or you can rock and rage to one of this country’s legendary bands – the Bondi Cigars!

They’ve been around for two decades, are widely regarded as one of our greatest ever R&B bands, and are still very much at the top of their game.

Led by the talented and productive team of Shane Pacey and Alan Britton, and with Eben Hale and Frank Corby rounding out the current lineup, the Cigars have produced great songs and ragin’ live shows year after year. Their recent performance at the Cairns and Narooma festivals are proof that while they are indeed an enduring outfit (read ‘old’), their passion and skill has intensified over time, not waned.

Their distinctive insertion of soul, funk and pop into the blues mix still moves this band forward on their quest for the perfect song.

The December release of their sixth studio Universal Stew, sees the band on the road – and where do you reckon they’ll be on New Year’s Eve?

Ballina RSL Club, that’s where. Next Thursday, December 31, the Bondi Cigars will play from 9.30pm.

And it’s free!
