HEAD of the Australian Greens Christine Milne will launch Richmond Greens candidate Dawn Walker's campaign at Murwillumbah on April 5.

She'll meet with businesses, farmers and the community about a green clean future for Richmond.

When Senator Christine Milne assumed the Greens leadership after the retirement of Bob Brown she emphasised the importance of regional Australia.

"Christine wants to hear from citizens of the Northern Rivers about their vision for Australia and talk about the Greens plans to protect the local environment, community and farms from the threat of coal seam gas, ensure farmers get a fair price for their produce and promote regional development around sustainable agriculture, tourism, education and renewable energy," Ms Walker said.

"I'm honoured that Christine will be visiting the Northern Rivers to meet our community and launch our campaign.

"It shows the high regard with which this region is held and I'm glad this will open up the conversation about what Richmond wants from this election."

Ms Walker said the Tweed was a "great community and a stunning environment."

"People are saying they want the balance restored," she said.

"They want strategies that will protect everything special about the place, while offering a long term future here for our residents and in particular our young people, our elderly and those less well off."

She said young people deserve jobs that will be there in the future.

"We need to support our existing businesses and attract sustainable industries that can work with the environment, farms and village lifestyle," Ms Walker said.

The talk and launch is at the Murwillumbah Community centre, Knox Park, Murwillumbah from 6 - 8pm on Friday April 5.

The cost is $20.
