Peter Furler I'm Alive

Christian pop star Peter Furler loves 'walking on water'

PETER Furler reckons you gain a pretty good outlook on life from a stand up paddle board off the Sunshine Coast.

The former Mooloolaba lad, who founded hit Christian pop band Newsboys, had one request when coming to the Coast, a big board with a paddle.

"I love the perspective. You are kind of walking on water,'' Furler says.

"You can see the waves coming, you can see the turtles, sea creatures below you and it's a great workout.''

Maroochydore firm Ocean Addicts were happy to oblige with the loan of a board.

This week, Furler's been making the most of it paddling off Buddina, Alexandra Headland and Moffat Beach.

Now living in Florida, where he's a regular on his own board there, he reckons the Coast has got even better with time, thanks to friendly locals and the efforts to preserve our natural environment.

"Everyone around here has a great perspective on life.

"People are really active and make the most of the natural environment here.''

Peter Furler is one of the headline acts at Easterfest at Toowoomba on Saturday night.
