WHAT the puck? Jonah Takalua is returning to the ABC.

Comedian Chris Lilley will revive his popular Summer Heights High character in a new series to air next year, it was revealed last night at the ABC's 2014 programming launch.

Other comedies coming to the broadcaster next year include Working Dog's government satire Utopia, The Chaser team's We'll Have to Leave It There and on ABC2 Lawrence Leung's kung-fu comedy Maximum Choppage and YouTube sensation Bondi Hipster's TV debut Soul Mates.

Comedian Josh Earl will host the highly anticipated return of musical quiz show Spicks and Specks, with Ella Hooper and Adam Richard as team captains.

On the drama front, next year will see the premieres of wartime miniseries Anzac Girls and telemovie Parer's War, political thriller The Code, Carlotta and Old School, starring Bryan Brown and Sam Neill.

Two shows will also launch exclusively on the ABC's online viewing service iView: sketch comedy show Fresh Blood and Wastelander Panda.

Returning in 2014 are Rake, The Time of Our Lives, Upper Middle Bogan, Please Like Me and The Moodys.
