Chinese art comes to Coraki
The students at Coraki Primary showed off their best artworks on Tuesday, with their annual art show.
Art teacher Kim Ward said the Year 5 and 6 students had done a unit on Chinese art this year.
“With the different inks and brushstrokes I love the simplicity of the art the kids created,” Kim said. “The students loved it. We set up desks with inks, special cloths, chrysanthemum dishes and all the special sticks and brushes. We played Chinese music in the classroom.”
However it wasn’t a piece of Chinese art that captured the public’s heart, it was a painting of an art gallery by Year 5 student Krystal White, who won the people’s choice award.
“We were learning about galleries so I painted one,” Krystal said. “I was very excited to win, I didn’t think it would be me.”
