Chef to create memorable experiences

EXPERIENCED chef, Uday Huja has been appointed executive chef of Jupiters Hotel & Casino.

Mr Huja joins the Jupiters Hotel & Casino team with a wealth of knowledge and experience having overseen kitchen operations in numerous leading international Casino hotels and restaurants.

He recently served as executive chef at The Signature at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he oversaw all culinary concepts for the opening of a three tower 1700 room hotel.

Prior to this role, Mr Huja held the position of executive chef at The Mansion - MGM Grand's most prestigious hotel designed to cater for the group's highest profile guests.

Mr Huja has catered for some of the world's most distinguished figures, at award winning restaurant, The Inn At Little Washington, and at President Barack Obama's first-ever White House State Dinner in 2009.

The culmination of more than a decade in the industry saw Mr Huja recently open a restaurant in Texas where he served as the owner and chef, having developed the menu and service concept as well as team training.

In his new position at Jupiters, Mr Huja will oversee all kitchen operations, including seven restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining, banquets, pastry and one of the largest production kitchens in the southern hemisphere. He will also lead a team of 185 chefs which includes 16 sous chefs and assistant sous chefs.

Jupiters Hotel & Casino general manager hospitality Damon Page said Mr Huja's extensive experience, particularly his knowledge of luxury casino operations, will prove a valuable asset to Jupiters.

"As we look towards expanding our food and beverage offering as part of our $350 million redevelopment, Uday's culinary expertise and knowledge of the entertainment and gaming industry will play an integral part in bringing world-class dining to the Gold Coast," he said.

Mr Huja said he is looking forward to working in Australia with its world renowned products and culturally diverse culinary scene.

"We have an amazing opportunity to create something special for our guests and the Gold Coast, as we work to set a new benchmark.

"Food will be only one part of the show; our goal will be to create memorable experiences for our guests that go well beyond just dining out."
