Change is blowing in the wind

After a well received exhibition at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle, local artist Philippa Leader is bringing The Winds of Change to Lismore.

Influenced by Rousseau and Frida Karlo, tarot decks, fair ground art and Pop Surrealism, the pictures are all concerned with inner journeys.

“They represent the strength and positive attributes and experiences that are necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals,” Philippa said.

She uses fantasy characters as a way to affirm courage, joy, strength and willingness to change. There are musicians, dancers, gymnasts and symbols from the natural world to inspire the viewer with life affirming images. Philippa has been influenced by the strength cards that are used in community services to assist clients to visualise positive outcomes.

The opening will be held at Luv a Coffee in Carrington St, on Friday, June 4 from 5.30pm. Music will be provided by guitarist Rich Bell. The exhibition runs until August 28.
