Celebrating women's achievements
Nyree Epplett from the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter said the upcoming International Women’s Day fundraiser was a great chance to celebrate the achievements of inspirational women like Dr Erin Martin, the helicopter’s first female doctor.
The special luncheon is being held in Lismore on International Women’s Day, March 8, with special guests including Page MP Janelle Saffin and Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell.
“We’ll have three guest speakers – all local women who have inspired us,” Nyree said. “It’s a day where all local women can come together and share their stories with other women. It’s about celebrating achievements of the past and present, but we also hope to have some younger women there who will be inspired by the women they meet on the day.”
The major sponsor, Destiny Cosmetic & Wellness Clinic, will spoil ladies with special gift packs and loads of giveaways worth more than $4000 in total. Taylors Wines, another major sponsor, will also treat women to glasses of what they claim is the world’s first 100% carbon neutral wine.
Of course, the event is an important fundraiser for the Rescue Helicopter, a vital service that costs $6.5 million to run every year.
The luncheon includes a two-course meal at the Zest Function Room at Southern Cross University and tickets are $55 each. To book, visit www.helirescue
