Celebrating Seniors Week

Next Week is Seniors Week in NSW and the Lismore Senior Citizens Social Club has a big week of activities planned.

The club has around 160 members who get together for cards, bowls and other social gatherings throughout the year, but their Seniors Week activities are open to all seniors in the area.

Mayor Jenny Dowell will kick things off next Monday, March 22, at the old rowing club at 1 Magellan Street from 9.30am to be followed by morning tea and gentle exercises.

On Tuesday there will be morning tea at 9.30am followed by indoor bowls and a game of hoy or cards. There will be a light lunch and a talk on nutrition by a local naturopath. Entry is $5.

On Wednesday there is a bus trip to Byron Bay leaving the club at 9am and returning around 3.30pm. The cost is $25 and includes morning tea and lunch. Bookings are essential to Glad Watts on 6625 1123.

On Thursday there is morning tea followed by a talk about changes to taxiss for seniors. There will also be entertainment and a craft display and lunch will be provided. Cost is $10 at the door.

Finally on Friday there will be a euchre tournament, indoor bowls and a trip to the Lismore Workers Club for a senior’s concert.
