Lismore's Italian heritage

The Italian community was an integral part of Lismore's unique heritage.

Whole families and many individuals migrated from Italy throughout the 20th century to make a new life for themselves.

Their stories will be told in an upcoming exhibition at the Lismore Regional Gallery titled Bananas, Business and Bocce: The Lismore Italians. Local artist Leonie Lane has used digital prints as well as archival photographs, artefacts, and a soundscape to interpret key themes of food, business and recreation.

To be opened at 12.30pm next Friday, July 27, by Mayor Jenny Dowell, it will run from July 20 to August 26.
