Bringing the spirit of Johnny Cash to regional Australia takes a special kind of performer. A vocal register lower than a CSG miner's ethics and the stage presence to carry it off.
There's only one man who could match Cash's legendary persona. Tex Perkins is The Man in Black.
With a stellar performance career from the experimental punk of Thug, through the Beasts of Bourbon and the Cruel Sea, Tex has weathered a million rock and roll moments and outlived most of his peers. With charisma in spades, he swaggers on stage with the band that has made this show a sensation across Australia.
With Rachel Tidd playing June Carter, Cash's wife and onstage sparring partner, and the backing band the Tenessee Four, this brilliant ensemble plays three historic nights at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 17, 18 and 19, from 7.30pm.
Tickets are $69/59 from the Star Court Arcade (6622 5005) or from starcourttheatre.com.au.
