Carols for the common people

The community of Clunes will be raising their voices to the sky this Sunday, December 20, for the annual Carols at the Common.

“It’s been going now for decades and it’s a great night when the whole community can get together – not just people from Clunes but people from the surrounding villages. Some people who have moved away even make a special trip back to the area for the carols each year,” organiser Tony Narvo said. “Everyone is most welcome.”

There will be 70 plus singers and musicians performing, including Dean Doyle, Georgina Pollard, The Alderson Sisters, Chris Aronsten, Simple Folk, the Clunes Primary School choir, Clunes Preschool choir, The Ho Ho Ho’s, The Clunes Store Singers, The MistleTones and many more, ably supported by The Bah Humbugs (the Clunes carols house band).

The carols begin at 5pm at the Clunes Common (old school site) and if it’s raining the event will be held across the road in Coronation Hall.

There will be a BBQ, cakes and refreshments, so bring a picnic rug and enjoy the sing-a-long. All proceeds will support the Girl Guides, Clunes Preschool and the Clunes Fire Brigade.
