Camp Orange is a welcome twist for TV siblings

POPULAR kids' adventure series Camp Orange is back with two new hosts.

Jack Griffo and Kira Kosarin travelled from the US to helm the show's new Twisted Siblings-themed season.

It's a good fit, considering the young actors play on-screen siblings in Nickelodeon's family comedy The Thundermans.

"We shoot The Thundermans in a giant concrete box, so we're indoors all day," Kosarin told APN.

"It was nice to get out in the Australian bush with the beautiful weather. We got to interact with bush turkeys and kookaburras in a gorgeous location."

The US teen television stars flew in to Sydney to film the series in less than two weeks.

"It's the most work-intensive job we've ever done on a trip," Kosarin said.

"It was a lot of fun but we definitely needed a lot of focus and attention.

"We wanted to make sure we knew what we were doing. It's a TV show but it's also a great experience for the kids."

Twisted Siblings sees five teams of brothers and sisters compete in a series of challenges, including obstacle courses, Nickelodeon's signature green slime and gross "Barf Buggy" food-eating contests.

"We couldn't make these kids do it if we didn't do it ourselves," she said. "Jack ate a cricket... he can stomach pretty much anything."

While they suffered more from jet lag than culture shock, Kosarin and Griffo described their first-ever visit to Australia as a crash course in slang.

"Jack has a list of his favourite sayings," she said.

"When people said 'how you going?' we were like 'what?'

"My favourite is 'this arvo'."

Luckily for Queensland siblings Torin and Egan, Kosarin and Griffo were already familiar with their team name, Ginger Ninjas.

"Yes, that has found its way to the States," Kosarin laughed.

The winning team, as voted by viewers, will land a recurring role on Foxtel's Nickelodeon Australia channel.

Camp Orange: Twisted Siblings airs Saturdays at 5.30pm on Nickelodeon.
