Calling all sculptors

Queensland’s Swell Sculpture Festival (an outdoor sculpture event) is calling for submissions from artists to exhibit in this year’s exhibition.

This eighth annual outdoor sculpture exhibition will be held along Currumbin Beach from September 10-19.

There’s $60,000 up for grabs in awards and acquisitions (that’s a lot of chisels) with the Gold Coast City Council acquiring a sculpture for up to $20,000 and Satterley Property Group acquiring two works for up to $20,000 and $10,000.

Other awards include the People’s and Kids’ Choice Awards, Emerging Artist Award, Environmental Awareness Award, Media Award and Artist Peer Award.

Exhibiting 55 sculptures, Swell Sculpture Festival supports full freedom of expression for all forms of sculpture. The curatorial panel includes Queensland Government architect Philip Follent and artist Donna Marcus.

Submissions are open until March 15.
