Cafe Noir - in Lismore
The publicity blurb says, “ Nightcafe- a party where everyone is invited.” And that's exactly what this show - the last presentation by Norpa in what has been a memorable season of shows - will be.
Nightcafe combines the high physicality and athleticism of Gavin Webber's choreography with the rawness, passion and lyricism of Gypsy music. Webber's dancers interpret the music of that very cool Gypsy band, Waiting for Guinness, in a celebration of European-style entertainment.
It's a poignant, humorous and up-tempo night of entertainment in a world perched on the lip of chaos.
It's the last great rage out tinged with all the melancholy and dark humour a fading culture can muster. Passionate distraction is the new world way...
Nightcafe is at Lismore City Hall on Friday, October 30, from 8pm.
Tickets are $47/38/21 from www.norpa.org.au .
