Byron, Mullum in winning water polo form

LISMORE'S Tim Anderson, Byron Bay's Brendan Irwin and Alstonville B's James Nunn starred in the eighth round of Far North Coast water polo.

Byron defeated Lismore 8-4 in a battle of the cellar-dwellers.

Anderson charged from the first whistle, dominating at centre forward and netting two goals.

Lismore led 4-3 at half-time, however Irwin organised Byron's defence and set up a solid ring around their goal in the second half.

Even the man-mountain Anderson could not get a shot in and Byron ran away with the game.

The other game at the Lismore Memorial Baths was a great match-up between Alstonville B and Mullumbimby.

The two teams traded shot-for-shot and great setting of formation resulted in some spectacular attacking moves.

In the Alstonville goal, Nunn stopped numerous shots on goal and kept the scores close but it wasn't enough to stop a Mullum win.

Next week is the last round of water polo before the Christmas break.
