RENOVATION all-stars Deanne and Darren Jolly look set for redemption on The Block.
Buyers' agent Greville Pabst tips the Melbourne couple to win tonight's grand final of The Block Triple Threat.
The 10th season of Channel 9's reality renovation show has seen four teams turn a South Yarra apartment block into four three-story, luxury townhouses in just 10 weeks.
The Jollys competed with two teams from The Block's Sky High series to secure a spot on the show, with the aim of doing better than the $10,000 profit they made on the Glasshouse series.
"In my view Darren and Dea's is the best apartment," Mr Pabst told APN.
"In terms of its desirability, it's the one that has attracted the most interest from buyers. But on the day it's going to come down to what the buyers' limits are."
Mr Pabst said the Jollys' open-plan living area, which opens on to a large outdoor living area, and bathrooms are major assets.
"It's not the largest apartment but the way Dea has used her interior design prowess, she's done a really good job in terms of the selection of the materials and the standard of finishes and fittings. They are very South Yarra."
He believes Sydney couple Josh and Charlotte and Gold Coast parents Jess and Ayden will jostle for the runner-up position.
He said the architectural detail of Jess and Ayden's staircase and the study in Josh Charlotte's apartment generated the most buyer interest.
Unfortunately Adelaide couple Tim and Anastasia seem almost certain to come in last after struggling to find their own style and manage their budget.
"The feel of their apartment is quite a classic, conservative style but I think it has missed the mark in terms of what a South Yarra buyer is looking for," he said.
Mr Pabst is part of the show's new buyers' advocates judging panel, which has scored the four teams and provided expert advice.
"It really is critical that advice is taken on board," he said.
"Some of them will have and some of them haven't, at their peril."
The reserve prices and order of the auctions will be revealed tonight. Mr Pabst doesn't believe there will be a repeat of Glasshouse auctions, when several apartments were passed in because of a lack of interest.
"There is certainly a greater depth of buyers this year," he said.
"Last year there was a bit of a shock...we're only auctioning four this time and I think that's going to cause a bit more urgency amongst the buyers.
"You have to remember these are quite unique properties. They are of good quality and there's nothing else like it in the market where you can get three levels, three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two car parks within walking distance to South Yarra Railway Station."
The Block Triple Threat grand final airs on tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 9/WIN.
