Buy a bun for breast cancer

Mayor Jenny Dowell has been hanging out at Bakers Delight in Lismore Centro this week to help promote breast cancer awareness and encourage as many people as possible to buy pink buns.

As supporters of breast cancer research, Bakers Delight will give all the money from the purchase of pink buns and a dollar from the purchase of pink tarts to the National Breast Cancer Network. Shop owner Gary George said the bakery chain has raised several million dollars over the past few years for this important cause. Mayor Dowell, who is a breast cancer survivor, said as part of the fundraising people can also buy a pink doll and write a message on it before it is put on display in the shop.

“Every time a mother with a little girl goes past, I hope there will be a cure for breast cancer before she grows up,” Jenny said.
