Busking opportunity for Bluesfest
Busking Over Byron Best Original Artist Competition is looking for talented performers to entertain at the 21st Bluesfest this Easter (April 1-5).
The comp offers the winner a gig on the Jambalaya Stage at Bluesfest on Monday, April 5. (That’s a big gig.)
Along with that special opportunity on stage at Bluesfest there are other prizes for the best original musician in the Busking Over Byron comp – like recording and mastering to the value of $2000 with Studio 301.
Runners-up will also play at the Bluesfest this year. Busking Over Byron will have a dedicated tent for the performers to play in. At least four acts a day will get the chance to perform on the grounds.
A People’s Choice Award is held at each venue during the heats. The audience gets a chance to vote for their favourite act of the competition and the winners are announced at the final.
The heats take place at The Rails, Great Northern and Beach Hotels in Byron, from Monday to Wednesday, March 29-31, with the final on Good Friday (April 2) at the Beach Hotel.
The Busking Over Byron comp was originally known as Blues Over Byron Busking Competition, and it was started by the Byron CBD business community as an incentive for people to come into town to enjoy the blues over the Easter weekend. It has grown bigger every year.
