Broncos suffer another blow ahead of Warriors clash

AN Origin-depleted Brisbane Broncos were hit by another blow at training on Tuesday, with gun speedster James Roberts limping off part-way through the session.

The Broncos have lost six Origin stars for the NRL match against the Warriors in Auckland on Saturday and will be sweating on the fitness of Roberts, who left the Red Hill track early with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

In encouraging news for the Broncos, who are sitting second on the NRL ladder, playmaker Ben Hunt (hamstring) trained strongly and is expected to make his return.

He will likely be partnered by recruit Benji Marshall in the halves after Anthony Milford received a surprise Origin call-up on Monday. Kodi Nikorima will be pushed to the bench.

Marshall made a promising return to Intrust Super Cup last week after a wrist injury.

Jaydn Su'A, George Fai, Jai Arrow and Jonus Pearson are also expected to come into the 17.

There is still doubt over rake Andrew McCullough, who suffered concussion in the round 11 clash against the Tigers.

Travis Waddell is on standby and Hunt said Nikorima had been benched to provide more cover at hooker.
